    Playa Del Carmen

    El Fogon

When in Mexico you have to visit an authentic Mexican taqueria. The ambience is very basic, and the prices are low. El Fogon is famous for their tacos al pastor, a corn tortilla with split-grilled pork, chopped onion, cilantro and a slice of pineapple. The menu is only in Spanish.

Address: Avenida Constituyentes, Playa del Carmen 12345, Mexico

    Carboncitos

Carboncitos is one of our favourite restaurants in Playa del Carmen. The food is great, the atmosphere is fun, and the service is excellent. Try their delicious margaritas which a waiter will bring to the table stacked on his head; mango is our favourite. Make a reservation to get an outdoor table right on the street.

Address: 4th Street | Between 5th and 10th Avenues, Playa del Carmen 77710, Mexico

    Alux

Alux is a very unique restaurant build in an underground cave with a cenote. The setting is really beautiful, it’s a perfect place for a romantic dinner for two. You can also come and have a drink in the lounge. After dinner/drinks, you can explore the rest of the cave. The restaurant is located just outside the centre, but only a 10-minute taxi ride from the 5th Avenue.

Address: Avenida Benito Juarez 217-2 | Col. Ejidal Entre Diagonal 65 and 70, Playa del Carmen 77710, Mexico

    Tulum

Bolas de Postre I Scream Bar

Nice spot to have breakfast and fresh juice in Tulum. The place has a cool vibe with a car parts throughout the restaurant. Try traditional Mexican breakfast dish, huevos rancheros (rancher’s style eggs). Fried eggs are served on warm corn tortillas and covered with red salsa. Huevos divorciados (divorced eggs) are served in the same style but with different salsas for each egg.  They also serve yummy vegan ice cream.

Address: Carretera Tulum Bocapaila | Next to Casa Jaguar, Tulum 77760, Mexico

    Akumal

    Lol-Ha Snack Bar

Great place to have lunch and an ice-cold beer right on the beach. The snack bar is open-air but covered so that you can be out of the sun. The atmosphere is very casual and the ceviche fresh and delicious.

Fish Ceviche – Pieces of grouper marinated in lime, mixed with chopped tomatoes, avocado, onions and cilantro – $235, Pacifico – $55, Akumal – $95
