Located in the northern region, on the banks of Red River, Hanoi is the capital city of Vietnam. The French have left their mark in Hanoi like nowhere else in the world. The French influence is visible everywhere, from gorgeous colonial architecture to the cafe culture and of course baguettes which are sold on every corner. One of the first things you will notice about Hanoi is the chaotic atmosphere with the scooters parked everywhere, so often you are obliged to walk on the side of the road, where the endless stream of motorbikes is passing by you. The constants horn sound and the smell of street food which is everywhere you look. Hanoi may be overwhelming at first, but it’s all part of its charm.
Where to stay in Hanoi?
JM Marvel Hotel & Spa
JM Marvel is a new hotel which started operating in February 2018, so everything feels new and fresh. The design and decor are lovely, and the room was very comfortable. The highlight is the hotel staff, who make you feel at home. We were always warmly greeted and talked to with genuine sincerity. From the moment you pull at the hotel you feel very welcomed, the staff meets you at the door, and after an informative check-in process, you receive welcome drinks with cold towels and cookies. The hotel is located in the central part of the old quarter, so most of the tourist spots are at walking distance. The breakfast buffet spread had a good selection of western and Vietnamese food as well as some a la carte dishes like omelettes and pho. There is a spa service in the basement that you can reach by the hotel lift. The atmosphere at the spa is very relaxed, and the treatments are very reasonably priced.
