  • Long weekend on the French Riviera

The French Riviera is full of amazing and charming places. We began exploring the charms of Provence in the famous St. Tropez, where luxury meets a carefree beach atmosphere. This place is known for its spectacular yachts, exclusive parties, luxury shops, and beautiful beaches. Next, we headed to Cannes, where the famous Film Festival takes place every year. Walking along the Croisette, the main promenade, you can feel the spirit of glamour and entertainment. Our route ends in the charming Nice, where French and Italian cultures harmoniously intertwine, visible in both the cuisine and architecture of this place. It’s the perfect spot to discover local cuisine, including the delicious niçoise salad, pan bagnat, and pissaladière.

    Saint Tropez

Our perfect day in Saint Tropez begins with a visit to La Tarte Tropézienne. Be sure to try the delicious cake of the same name, which is a true symbol of this place. The center of Saint Tropez is small and charming, full of little shops offering the best products, sausages, cheeses, fresh fish, and fruit and vegetable stalls. Strolling through the picturesque streets, you can easily find plenty of treats to sample or take with you for a beach picnic. Be sure to stop for a few oysters at Chez Madeline, a small stand located between the vegetable market and the cheese shop. For lunch, head to the iconic Le Club 55, one of the most famous restaurants in Saint Tropez. Opinions about this place are divided, but for us, it was worth a visit mainly for the atmosphere. We ordered the famous crudités, a platter of raw vegetables unusually served whole, with eggs and an anchovy dip, which turned out to be the real star of the show. The portion is rather too large for two people, but we did not regret ordering it. Together with grilled langoustines and a bottle of Provencal rosé wine, they made for an ideal and light beach lunch. After lunch, head to a local winery to taste the famous wines of the region… in St. Tropez, we take the slogan “rosé all day” seriously 🙂 Spend the rest of the afternoon on the beach, and a sunset picnic composed of local products is the perfect end to the day.

    Nice

Nice has a unique charm that comes from the combination of beautiful architecture, a pleasant climate, and a vibrant cultural scene. During your visit, you must try local delicacies such as pan bagnat. Its name, which in the local dialect means “soaked bread,” reflects the preparation method of leaving the sandwich in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight to allow the bread to soak up the other ingredients. The classic version consists of round pain de campagne bread, generously drizzled with olive oil, rubbed with garlic, and filled with tuna, hard-boiled eggs, anchovies, tomatoes, peppers, onions, and black olives. Some variations may also include radishes, lettuce, or basil leaves. Also, try local treats like socca, a thin chickpea pancake, and pissaladière, a regional type of pizza with onions, anchovies, and black olives. For dinner, we highly recommend visiting Bistro d’Antoine, which serves French cuisine with a modern twist.
