Canggu, a lively beach spot that’s become a magnet for surfers and sun-seekers, oozes a laid-back charm with its blend of modern and traditional Balinese architecture. Unlike the bustling Seminyak, Canggu offers a more relaxed vibe, making it our preferred spot to soak up the island’s unique atmosphere. Here, the streets are dotted with colorful murals, quirky cafes, and rice paddies, painting a picturesque backdrop for an adventure.
The food scene is as vibrant as its sunsets. The local cuisine offers a delightful mix of flavors, from the fragrant spices of traditional Balinese dishes to instagrammable healthy fare. Our go-to lunch spot was Shady Shack, a haven for vegetarians and those seeking a healthy bite. Their menu is packed with inventive, plant-based dishes that even the most dedicated carnivores would enjoy. For dinner, Warung Dandelion stole our hearts. This charming eatery serves up authentic Indonesian dishes with a side of whimsical decor and friendly rabbits hopping around the garden. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of beach hopping.
Speaking of beaches, on Canggu’s we found the best freshly grilled corn on the cob – a simple yet unforgettable snack. And if you’re staying in the area, a trip to Jimbaran for a sunset seafood dinner is a must. Canggu isn’t just a destination; it’s a feeling. It’s the easygoing mornings with smoothie bowls, the lazy afternoons on the beach, and the vibrant nights filled with laughter and music.
