    AUM Vegetarian Food

AUM is a vegetarian/vegan restaurant with lots of healthy options to choose from, fresh juices and smoothies. The upstairs dining area has a very relaxed vibe and quirky decor. It’s a must try for vegetarian Khao Soi, a northern Thai speciality. It’s a coconut curry soup with a combination of boiled and crispy egg noodles, served with pickles, onions, lime, and chilli on the side. It’s traditionally a meat-based soup, so I was really happy to find a place that serves a delicious vegetarian version. Fresh spring rolls were light and fresh. They don’t use MSG.

    Kaow Tom 1 Baht

Kaow Tom is a busy restaurant occupied mostly by locals with a canteen like atmosphere. It’s a good place to try local Chiang Mai cuisine at reasonable price. They are known for selling boiled rice and rice porridge for just 1 bath! We visited it on Sunday, and it was super crowded due to a walking street market, so the service wasn’t the best. But overall we enjoyed the hectic street food vibe and lively atmosphere.

Khao Soi Lam Duan – Fa Ham

You should definitely try Khao Soi while in Chiang Mai. It’s a northern Thailand signature dish, though not frequently served in Thai restaurants abroad. According to many, this place serves one of the best Khao Soi in town. It’s a very simple roadside restaurant, a bit outside of old town. An open kitchen is right on the street, with seating behind.

    Cooking Love

Cooking love is a popular dining spot among tourists in Chiang Mai, so there is usually a little bit of a wait to get a seat. The menu is extensive and includes a lot of vegetarian options. They don’t use MSG, and you can choose the spiciness level for each dish. The prices are very reasonable, and the staff is friendly.

    Lemongrass Thai Restaurant

Busy restaurants with an authentic vibe, located near the night bazaar, a few doors down from the Hard Rock Chiang Mai. The bonus is that’s open until 12 am, so it’s a good option for a late night dinner in the centre. There is no air-con so seat close to a fan! We liked chicken satay, drunken noodles and morning glory. Beef khao soi and fish cakes were so-so.

    Khao Kha Moo Chang Phueak

A must try ‘Cowboy hat lady” street food stall in Chiang Mai made famous by Anthony Bourdain. It’s located at food market at the north gate. Try the signature braised pork leg with rice and egg. It’s good and cheap. The condiments are provided on the tables.
